PortaCon Structures are prefabricated to fit your projects needs and therefore our only size limitations would be determined by shipping restrictions.  Our portable building sizes typically range from 4’ to 12’ wide and 6’ to 28’ in length.

Foundations

Precast concrete foundations are designed and prefabricated to

suit existing soil conditions and local code requirements. After the foundation area is excavated, our pre-manufactured foundation is set on a compacted sub grade, infilled and prepared to receive the PortaCon precast floor and concrete block wall unit.

Floor and Wall Construction

PortaCon floors are built using a 12” thick precast concrete base equipped with a stepped and recessed joint to eliminate the possibility of water intrusion at the base to wall connection and to provide the structure with a more aesthetic exterior appearance. Floor bases are manufactured with 3,500 psi concrete and are equipped with lifting points for handling  and future relocation of the structure if desired.

Our standard wall construction consists of 8” concrete masonry units (CMU) reinforced both vertically and horizontally. All concrete block walls are filled with a pea gravel concrete to provide added strength and insulation to the structure. Exterior wall finishes include Split Face Block, Standard Concrete Block, Full Size Brick or Thin Set Brick wall finishes.

Vents, fans, doors and windows are all pre-installed within the prefab walls to guarantee proper fit and to reduce on site installation time.

Interior Components

Interior electrical boxes and panels, wiring chases and piping

components are typically pre-mounted prior to shipment.  Final connections are made on site and ensure that your PortaCon Structure is up and running in minimal time.

Roof Assembly

PortaCon roof assemblies are Truss Plate Institute (TPI) approved and are constructed to withstand 120 mph winds and snow loads within your region. Our standard construction includes pre-engineered prefabricated trusses 24” on center; fiberglass shingles over 15 lb. felt on a ½” plywood substrate with ply clips. Also included are a continuous ridge vent, 3/8” plywood ceiling and aluminum soffiting and fascia trim.

Installed Roof Assembly

The roof assembly is lifted into place and connected to the wall unit utilizing lag bolts at the trusses and steel angle clips mounted to the walls interior.

Alternate choices to the fiberglass shingles include Metal Standing Seam or Batten Seam panels. Shingle or metal finishes are available in various colors.
